Eleonora Fiorani in Moda Corpo Immaginario, 2006. |
Testi di riferimento | - Barthes, R. (2006). Il senso della moda. Torino: Einaudi. |

Contents | "Adorning is anthropologically older than dressing, it is direct manipulation-signification of the body, it is not added to dressing, it is the foundation of dressing. Dress and accessory model the world, writing stories on our body. A communication is established between the body and the ornament that makes the significant surface of the body indistinguishable from the objects that mean it. It is, in fact, the dress and the ornamentation that structure the body, its sense, its ability to communicate. Eleonora Fiorani in "Corpo, Moda, Immaginario." 2006. |
Textbook and course materials | - Barthes, R. (2006). The sense of fashion. Turin: Einaudi. |
Course objectives | - To acquire an autonomous and independent design methodology; |
Prerequisites | The student must have basic knowledge of the use of software such as Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. A minimum mastery of drawing and experimentation with various materials and fabrics is also required. |
Teaching methods | In addition to the bibliography, a series of lectures and specific sheets will be provided to the students for an in-depth study of the methodology, materials and processes, as a support to the construction of the two projects. The results of the course will be presented at international competitions in the fashion and jewellery sectors and included in a collective publication. |
Evaluation methods | The final exam will consist of a digital presentation, accompanied by a printed design book, and a series of experimental material tables, together with the collection and the products made. The final evaluation will take into account the average of the individual results achieved in the tests carried out, together with the active participation in the frontal lessons and workshops. |
Other information | Participation in International Competitions and Workshops and the drafting of the Scientific Review #4LOOK |
Course Syllabus | The course will be characterized by a strong speculative-laboratory orientation on the contemporary international fashion trends. The individual project will be focused on the creation of products, highly innovative in concept and material research, so as to be a useful exercise for the practical experimentation of each student. The design brief of the final module will focus on the creation of a capsule collection of clothes and jewelry that are able to tell the vision and philosophy of each group. The final objective will be to train independent designers, with a strong identity, able to be competitive in the market, through a transdisciplinary methodology that hybridizes manual skills and design thinking, fashion culture and use of technology, tradition and innovation. |
