    Storia del Gioiello attraverso i secoli e in rapporto ai contesti culturali e artistici

    Durante il corso sarà fornita una selezione bibliografica di testi e indicazioni su letture di approfondimento per specifici argomenti.

    Obiettivi formativi

    Il corso intende fornire la conoscenza delle componenti formali e delle tecniche di realizzazione dei gioielli nel corso della storia. Attraverso l’illustrazione delle opere più significative prodotte nel mondo antico e nell’arco cronologico compreso tra il Medio Evo e il XX secolo, verranno analizzate le differenti soluzioni formali e le modalità di esecuzione delle opere esemplari e originali, relazionate ai rispettivi contesti storico-culturali.

    Conoscenza delle nozioni storiche di base

    Metodologie didattiche

    Lezioni frontali ed esercitazioni in aula sul tema di approfondimento concordato.

    Metodi di valutazione

    L’esame consiste in un colloquio sugli argomenti previsti nel programma, supportato da tavole grafiche di approfondimento a gruppi da concordare durante le lezioni.

    Altre informazioni

    Lo studente dovrà dimostrare di saper contestualizzare la produzione orafa rispetto alle dinamiche artistico-culturali del periodo di riferimento, individuandone le specifiche caratteristiche tecniche e formali.

    Introduzione alla storia del gioiello.

    Tecniche di modellazione, incastonatura, incisione e congiunzione.

    I Materiali: conchiglia, perla, bronzo, rame, argento, oro, pietre e smalti.

    Jewels’ History through the centuries and in relation to cultural and artistic contexts.

    Textbook and course materials

    During the course, a bibliographical selection of texts and indications on in depth readings for specific topics will be provided.

    Course objectives

    The course intends to provide knowledge of the formal components and techniques of jewellery making throughout history. Through the illustration of the most significant works produced in the ancient world and in the chronological period between the Middle Ages and the twentieth century, the different formal solutions and the modalities of execution of exemplary and original works will be analysed, with relation to their historical and cultural contexts

    Prerequisites

    Knowledge of basic historical notions.

    Teaching methods

    Lectures and exercises in the classroom on the subject of agreed study.

    Evaluation methods

    The exam consists of a colloquy on the topics envisaged in the program, supported by in depth graphic sheets prepared by groups to be agreed during the lectures.

    Other information

    The student must demonstrate that he is able to contextualize the goldsmith's production with respect to the artistic-cultural dynamics of the reference period, identifying the specific technical and formal characteristics.

    Modeling, embedding, engraving and joining techniques.
    Materials: shell, pearl, bronze, copper, silver, gold, stones and enamels.
    Precious jewelry and accessories through the centuries:
    - Accessories and jewels in the prehistoric world: archaeological sites and discoveries;
    - The jewel in Egyptian civilization;
    - Jewels and precious objects in the ancient world;
    - The Roman goldsmith production in the Vesuvian area;
    - Medieval jewelery;
    - Modern goldsmithery;
    - Renaissance Jewels;
    - The baroque era;
    - The eighteenth and nineteenth centuries;
    - The contemporary renovation.
