Testi di riferimento | Colin Rowe e Fred Koetter, Collage City, The Mit Press, Cambridge, Massachusetts, 1983 |

Contents | The laboratory provides the student with the tools to elaborate and manage a complex project defined also in its relevant elements as a result of a process of integration and synthesis of the knowledge of the different disciplinary fields. The student develops an adequate response to architectural and urban transformation programs with detailed architectural technical elements, attentive to technological, plant and environmental innovations. |
Textbook and course materials | Colin Rowe e Fred Koetter, Collage City, The Mit Press, Cambridge, Massachusetts, 1983 |
Course objectives | 1) At the end of the course, the student must have acquired analytical skills and in-terpretations of urban phenomena, ad-dressing the knowledge of the concept of building typology, with particular attention to the distribution and compositional as-pects of the residence. The student must have acquired the tools for the configura-tion of a more complex building system and elaborated an architectural project linked to a context. |
Prerequisites | The prerequisites are at least those learned in the course of the Architectural Design Laboratory IV for which the student must have acquired the tools and skills to face the transformation of a large area through the design of a building system in a multidisciplinary perspective and must be able to develop analytical and design skills related to the themes of urbanized territory. |
Teaching methods | The teaching methods are: |
Evaluation methods | The final mark will be determined by tables, model and final presentation presented at the didactic exhibition on the day of the exam. |
Other information | Students will have the support of the slides used during the lessons |
Course Syllabus | The story of the street in architecture has always conditioned the work of the architect. In fact, it is an element with which the project relates to every condition of the present. The story of Colin Rowe with Collage City and the analysis of Robert Venturi's American street with Learning from Las Vegas have become fundamental research to analyze not only the changes in modern urban space but also in the contemporary through their visionary nature in rendering plastic conditions underneath in urban space. The theme of the Workshop - Intensive Design Laboratory of the 5th year proposes a critical re-reading of the phenomenon of urban street in a context conditioned by a widespread sprawl. The area north of Aversa, with viale Europa, becomes a zero point for the analysis of a contemporary manifestation that does not belong only to Southern Italy but that can be taken as a symbol of a present condition of the urban crossing space. Viale Europa becomes the canvas to reinterpret the street not only as an element of union but as an expression of an urban "situation" that can, potentially, become a powerful and provocative short circuit. |
