    Contenuti

    - R. Marone, Spazi scritti, Libria, Melfi 2004.

    Obiettivi formativi

    Contents

The student acquires analytical and interpretative skills about inhabited spaces, and the knowledge of different "species of spaces". The student acquires also tools for the configuration of space systems of different complexity, carrying out architectural design exercises linked in a specific context. He puts in relation the compositional choices to the material, environmental aspects, and use of interior spaces.

    Textbook and course materials

The indications for the students related to specific topics to study will be extracted from the bibliographic data present in the following texts by the teacher
    - R. Marone, Ovunque è architettura. Fatti dello spazio che abitiamo, Libria, Melfi 2018.
    - R. Marone, Pensare per spazi (per pensare spazi). Vedere e immaginare come un architetto, CLEAN, Napoli 2012

    Course objectives

    1) At the end of the course, the student must have acquired analytical and interpretative skills in relation to some fundamental specificities of living: envelope-interior relationship, spatial continuum, "atmospheres". The student must have acquired tools to configure simple contemporary space systems at different scales, and to understand the fundamental aspects of the context.

    2) The course aims to provide basic knowledge on cognitive tools that allow a meaningful relationship with the space and on the capacity of compositional choice in relation to the formal and material aspects, and use of the interior spaces.

    Prerequisites

The cognitive prerequisites are related to the observation and documentation of inhabited spaces, along with the knowledge of the fundamental elements of design, history of architecture, contemporary art and, photo and video post-production, even at elementary levels.
The student must have acquired the basic theoretical elements of the culture of living, with regards to interiors and open spaces.

    Teaching methods

    The teaching methods are:
    1) Frontal lessons: deepening of theoretical themes
    2) Workshop activities: architectural design exercises

    Evaluation methods

Periodic reviews in the classroom aimed at the formalization of a test for each project exercise.
The final mark will be determined by interviews that will be part of the final evaluation and the results that will be presented at the didactic exhibition on the day of the exam.
Students will have to produce models of the projects and summary tables of the course work.
    • For the oral exam, the minimum requirements for passing and the evaluation parameters are: ability to link critical, ability to synthesis, quality of the organization of speech and exposure, use of specialized vocabulary, ability to deepen and understand the role of the project for living spaces.

    Other information

Students will have the support of bibliographic materials, provided by the teacher, concerning the topics covered in the lessons and instructions to develop design exercises.

    Course Syllabus

The course is articulated into sections. Sections trace an educational path that leads to understanding, interpreting and practicing, in elementary forms, some ways of interpretation and conception of living space.
Each section includes lessons that analyze works and themes of architecture finalizing the lectures to the parallel experiences of design work developed in the workshop.
Lessons require the active participation of students and concern living spaces from different historical periods, but mainly modern and contemporary, as well as issues related to the city's space. Also thanks to the notions provided by other disciplines, students are asked to use the proposed materials as real tools for the synthesis carried out by the design process.
The core of each section is a design exercise.
