    Obiettivi formativi

    Contents

The structural design of industrial products, furniture and furnishing accessories; Physical and mechanical properties of structural materials; Structural materials for industrial products, furniture and furnishing accessories; Advanced and innovative materials; Loads and boundaries; Sizing, modelling and verification of the structure of industrial products, furniture and furnishing accessories.

    Textbook and course materials

Duplicated lecture notes provided by the professor

    Course objectives

The student will have to achieve the knowledge of the mechanical properties of structural materials that can be used for industrial products, furniture and furnishing accessories as well as the ability to size and verify their structure. He will have to understand the principles of their static functioning and be able to evaluate the effects of structural design on their performance. He will also be able to know the materials that allow the achievement of optimal solutions, being aware of their potentiality. He will therefore have to reach the competences indispensable to develop an integral design and manage its fulfilment.
The minimum contents of the course of study are: mechanical properties of structural materials, principles of equilibrium of structures, fundamentals of the structural design of industrial products and furniture.

    Prerequisites

Fundamentals of mathematics and structural mechanics.

    Teaching methods

The course of study will be held by lectures. Several examples of structural design of industrial products and furnishing accessories will also be illustrated. Attendance at the course is mandatory in the minimum percentage of 70% to be able to access the exam. Compliance with attendance obligations is ascertained by the professor through the collection of attendance signatures.

    Evaluation methods

The final exam is based on an oral interview in which the knowledge of the topics covered during the course of study and the understanding of their use in practice will be evaluated. The ability of critical connections, the quality of the organization of speech and exposition, as well as the use of specialized vocabulary will also be evaluated. Answers not given, off topic or generic will be considered as elements of insufficiency. The praise will be proposed collegially by the exam commission for the students who will demonstrate a complete mastery of the discipline and the specialized lexicon.
The minimum requirement for passing the profit test is the full achievement of the training targets of the course of study.

    Other information

At the beginning of the course of study, the professor will provide the students with a copy of the lecture slides to optimize their concentration during the lessons and facilitate their personal study.
The exam sessions will take place on the days scheduled by the calendar of educational activities published annually on the website of the Department.
The verification of profit ends with the assignment of a vote, expressed in thirtieths. Students who declare to withdraw before the assignment of the vote or who refuse the vote assigned by the Commission are allowed to repeat the exam also in the following exam appeal. Students who do not pass the exam are allowed to repeat only in the next exam session.
