    L'insegnamento, che costituisce uno dei due moduli in cui si articola il "Laboratorio di progettazione e recupero urbano e ambientale", comprenderà lezioni e attività laboratoriali e sarà indirizzato, da un lato, ad analizzare le principali sfide che le città contemporanee devono affrontare (dai cambiamenti demografici al degrado ambientale, dai rischi tradizionali ai rischi legati al clima); dall'altro, ad esplorare, anche attraverso casi studio, le possibili soluzioni da mettere in campo. Un'attenzione particolare sarà dedicata alla mobilità urbana sostenibile e alle infrastrutture verdi.

    Obiettivi formativi

    L’insegnamento, attraverso lezioni frontali e seminari tematici, fornisce: conoscenze di base nel campo della pianificazione urbanistica e conoscenze specifiche su temi emergenti nel dibattito urbanistico, con particolare riferimento ai temi della rigenerazione urbana secondo principi di sostenibilità e resilienza. Le attività laboratoriali, in stretta correlazione con le lezioni teoriche, consentono allo studente di applicare le conoscenze teoriche acquisite a specifici contesti urbani, stimolandone le capacità di: 1) elaborare e interpretare dati per la conoscenza delle caratteristiche di sostenibilità e resilienza dei sistemi urbani e territoriali; 2) individuare le criticità esistenti e proporre idee e soluzioni per una rigenerazione urbana sostenibile e resiliente. Inoltre, le attività laboratoriali favoriscono la capacità dello studente di lavorare in gruppo e ne stimolano le abilità comunicative, guidandolo sia nella redazione di elaborati grafici e cartografici esplicativi delle attività di analisi e delle soluzioni rigenerative proposte che nell’individuazione di efficaci modalità di presentazione e comunicazione del proprio lavoro.
    Al termine del percorso formativo, lo studente dovrà dimostrare la piena comprensione dei concetti di sostenibilità e resilienza e adeguate conoscenze, metodologiche e tecniche, per delineare soluzioni rigenerative, in grado di accrescere la sostenibilità e la resilienza dei sistemi urbani.

    Metodologie didattiche

    Il presente insegnamento prevede lezioni frontali, seminari di approfondimento su argomenti emergenti nel dibattito urbanistico, anche affidati a docenti di altre università o professionisti di consolidata esperienza, attività laboratoriali finalizzate alla redazione di un elaborato d'anno, con periodiche presentazioni ed esposizioni in aula degli stati di avanzamento del lavoro da parte dei differenti gruppi di lavoro.

    Metodi di valutazione

    La verifica finale sarà effettuata tramite un colloquio orale individuale. Il colloquio riguarderà sia i contenuti delle lezioni teoriche che il lavoro progettuale portato a termine dagli studenti durante il corso.
    I requisiti minimi per il superamento della prova riguardano: l’aver maturato adeguate conoscenze teoriche sui temi affrontati durante il corso, con particolare attenzione ai concetti di sostenibilità, e resilienza e la capacità di applicare tali conoscenze in concrete esperienze di rigenerazione urbana.
    La valutazione terrà conto della capacità maturata dallo studente di: utilizzare adeguatamente il linguaggio tecnico della disciplina, presentare efficacemente e con collegamenti critici le conoscenze teoriche acquisite durante il percorso formativo, applicare tali conoscenze a specifici casi studio, presentare e comunicare efficacemente l'esito delle attività laboratoriali svolte.
    La valutazione finale terrà conto dei risultati ottenuti dallo studente in ciascuno dei due moduli di insegnamento in cui è articolato il corso

    Mitigazione e adattamento ai cambiamenti climatici: Iniziative europee

    Città e cambiamenti climatici: casi studio

    Mobilità urbana sostenibile: il ruolo della mobilità per mitigare i cambiamenti climatici

    Infrastrutture verdi per sostenibilità urbana e resilienza: tipologie e servizi ecosistemici

    Oltre alle lezioni, il corso includerà attività di laboratorio. In particolare, gli studenti saranno organizzati in gruppi di lavoro (massimo 4 persone). Ciascun gruppo dovrà elaborare soluzioni volte a migliorare la sostenibilità e la resilienza urbana in aree studio selezionate.

    The course, which is one of the two modules in which the "Laboratory of Urban and environmental design and restoration" is articulated, will include lectures and laboratory activities and will be addressed, on the one hand, to analyze the main challenges that contemporary cities have to cope with (from demographic changes to environmental decay, from traditional risks to climate related risks); on the other hand, to explore, also through case studies, the likely solutions to be developed. Particular attention will be devoted to sustainable urban mobility and green urban infrastructures.

    Course objectives

    Teaching activities, through lectures and thematic seminars, provide students with: basic knowledge in the field of urban planning and specific knowledge on emerging issues in the planning debate, with particular reference to the issues of urban regeneration according to principles of sustainability and resilience. Laboratory activities, in close relationships with the contents of the lectures, will be addressed to carry out a project work allowing students to apply the theoretical knowledge gained to specific urban contexts, stimulating their ability to: 1) elaborate and interpret data for a better understanding of the sustainability and resilience features of urban and territorial systems; 2) identify existing criticalities and provide ideas and technical solutions for a sustainable and resilient urban regeneration. Furthermore, laboratory activities favor students’ abilities to work in teams and stimulate their communication skills, guiding them in the drafting of graphic and cartographic representations of their analysis and regenerative solutions as well as in identifying effective ways of presenting and communicating their work.
    At the end of the course, students are required to demonstrate a fully understanding of the concepts of sustainability and resilience and an adequate methodological and technical knowledge for outlining regenerative solutions, aimed to increase the sustainability and resilience of urban systems.

    Teaching methods

    Teaching activities will include lectures, seminars on emerging issues in the planning debate, also entrusted to professors of other universities or professionals with a consolidated experience in the field, and laboratory activities aimed at carrying out a specific project work, with periodic presentations and exhibitions in the classroom of the work progresses achieved by the different working teams.

    Evaluation methods

    The final examination will be carried out through an individual oral interview. The interview will cover both the contents of the theoretical lessons and the works carried out by the students during the course.
    The minimum requirements for passing the final examination are: the possession of adequate theoretical knowledge on the issues faced during the course, with particular attention to the concepts of sustainability, and resilience and the ability to apply this knowledge in practical experiences of urban regeneration.
    The assessment will take into account the ability of the student to: adequately use the technical disciplinary language, present effectively and with critical links the theoretical knowledge gained during the course, apply this knowledge to specific case studies, present and effectively communicate the outcome of laboratory activities.
    The final evaluation will take into account the results achieved by the student in each of the two teaching modules in which the course is articulated.

    The teacher will provide students with the slides used during the lessons and additional supporting materials to facilitate individual study.

    Besides lectures, the Course will include laboratory activities. In particular, students will be organized in working teams (maximum 4 persons) and required to develop planning solutions aimed to improve urban sustainability and resilience in selected case study areas.
