    Obiettivi formativi

    Il corso ha come obiettivo fornire agli studenti gli strumenti di base necessari per la progettazione di esperienze attraverso il design multisensoriale. In particolare, mira a formare competenze per progettare le caratteristiche del complesso di stimoli sensoriali di ambienti e prodotti — reali, virtuali o ibridi — tenendo conto delle interazioni tra i diversi sensi coinvolti nella percezione dello spazio e degli oggetti che ci circondano.

    Prerequisiti

    Conoscenze basilari della Fisica Tecnica Ambientale ed attitudine all’utilizzo di software di modellazione/animazione grafica.

    Metodi didattici

    L’insegnamento è organizzato in tre diverse sezioni in cui vengono affrontati gli aspetti, teorici e pratici, della caratterizzazione, simulazione e riproduzione di ambienti multisensoriali, nonché lo sviluppo di progetti:
    Le sezioni riguardano:
    1) Approfondimenti teorici sulla percezione multisensoriale in relazione design dell’esperienza, sulle tecniche di riproduzione/simulazione e valutazione soggettiva.;
    2) Approfondimenti tecnici di laboratorio sugli strumenti (Hw/Sw) di misura per la caratterizzazione acustica, illuminotecnica, termoigrometrica, olfattiva, degli ambienti e sulle modalità di simulazione/riproduzione e calibrazione in ambienti VR/ibridi);
    3) Sviluppo assistito, in laboratorio, di progetti su temi d’anno.

    Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento

    La verifica dell’apprendimento, delle lezioni teoriche in aula e di quelle pratiche in laboratorio, viene effettuata durante tutte le fasi di sviluppo dei singoli progetti. In queste fasi viene valutata la capacità dello studente di realizzare un progetto multisensoriale e di svilupparlo in autonomia, integrando tra loro gli strumenti e le conoscenze apprese.
    La verifica finale prevede la presentazione del di un progetto multisensoriale oltre che la discussione sulla problematiche connesse.

    Course objectives

    The course aims to provide students with the fundamental tools needed to design experiences through multisensory design. In particular, it focuses on developing the ability to design the characteristics of the complex set of sensory stimuli of environments and products—whether real, virtual, or hybrid—while considering the interactions among the different senses involved in the perception of space and the objects around us.

    Prerequisites

    Conoscenze basilari della Fisica Tecnica Ambientale ed attitudine all’utilizzo di software di modellazione/animazione grafica.

    Teaching methods

    The course is organized in three different sections which deal with the theoretical and practical aspects of the characterization, simulation and reproduction of multisensory environments, as well as the development of projects:
    The sections concern:
    1) In-depth theoretical studies on multisensory perception and on reproduction / simulation and evaluation techniques;
    2) Technical laboratory analysis on measuring instruments (Hw / Sw) for acoustic, lighting, thermo-hygrometric, olfactory and environmental characterization and on simulation / reproduction and calibration methods in VR / hybrid environments);
    3) Assisted development, in the laboratory, of projects on themes of the year.

    Assessment methods

    The verification of the learning, of the theoretical lessons in the classroom and of the practical ones in the laboratory, is carried out during all the phases of the projects development.
    The final assessment involves the presentation of a multisensory project as well as the discussion of related problems.
    In these phases the student's ability to carry out a multi-sensory project and to develop it individually, integrating the several multiphysics aspects is assessed.
