L’insegnamento illustra i principali episodi della storia del design e dell’architettura in Occidente dall’antichità al primo dell’Ottocento, in relazione ai contesti sociali e culturali.
L’insegnamento si articola cronologicamente in lezioni tematiche su opere e contesti di particolare significato storico-artistico, tenendo conto del rapporto tra progettisti, movimenti, committenti, nei diversi momenti storici considerati.
L’indagine promuoverà una lettura storico-critica di tali episodi, volta a metterne in luce il complesso sistema d’istanze materiali, formali, artistiche, politiche, economiche.

I testi di riferimento saranno integrati con ulteriore materiale didattico di supporto (slides, articoli, immagini, video) che verranno caricati sulla pagina web istituzionale dell'insegnamento. Per il tema di approfondimento concordato con la docente verrà fornita ulteriore bibliografia.

- Acquisire conoscenze e capacità di comprensione dei principali episodi della storia del design e dell’architettura in Occidente dall’antichità al primo dell’Ottocento, in rapporto con il loro contesto, sia negli aspetti pratico-costruttivi che in quelli di estetico-progettuali. Attraverso lezioni tematiche su casi di studio e contesti di particolare significato storico-artistico, si svilupperanno conoscenza e capacità di comprensione delle relazioni tra design, architettura, cambiamenti sociali, di gusto e produttivi succedutisi nel tempo. L’indagine promuoverà una lettura storico-critica di tali episodi, volta a metterne in luce il complesso sistema d’istanze materiali, formali, artistiche, politiche, economiche.
- Utilizzare le conoscenze e le capacità di comprensione acquisite per produrre relazioni scritte ed elaborati grafici illustrativi di un tema di approfondimento concordato con la docente nell’ambito degli spazi architettonici nella pittura italiana del XVI secolo.

Nozioni di base di storia e di storia dell’arte.

L’insegnamento si articola in 48 ore di didattica suddivise in: lezioni frontali con supporto d’immagini, anche con il coinvolgimento degli studenti al fine di stimolare conoscenze e capacità di comprensione, capacità di trarre conclusioni, abilità comunicative; presentazione in aula dello stato di avanzamento del tema di approfondimento concordato; eventuali sopralluoghi; eventuali seminari con esperti.
La frequenza delle lezioni è obbligatoria. Per poter accedere all’esame di profitto finale sarà necessario raggiungere una percentuale minima di presenza del 70%.

La verifica dell’apprendimento sarà effettuata con un esame orale individuale finale. Gli studenti dovranno presentare e discutere gli elaborati prodotti durante l’insegnamento relativi al tema di approfondimento concordato, nonché dimostrare la conoscenza dei temi trattati durante le lezioni, e la capacità di comprensione e di trarre conclusioni su tali argomenti, inquadrandoli nel loro ambito storico, attraverso un colloquio articolato in circa tre domande. Parametri di valutazione saranno: capacità di collegamenti critici, di sintesi, di organizzazione dell'esposizione, di uso del lessico specialistico.

Le slides utilizzate durante le lezioni saranno messe a disposizione dopo ogni lezione sul sito web dell'insegnamento.

The teaching illustrates the main episodes of the history of Western design and architecture through the centuries, from antiquity to early 19th century, in their social and cultural contexts.
Thematic lessons on case studies and contexts particularly important from the historical-artistic point of view will develop knowledge and understanding of the relationships between design, architecture, social changes, taste and production that have occurred over time.
The investigation will promote a historical-critical reading of these episodes, aimed at highlighting the complex system of material, formal, artistic, political, and economic demands.

The reference texts will be integrated with further didactic material (slides, articles, images, videos) which will be uploaded on the institutional web page of the teaching. For the in-depth theme agreed with the teacher further bbliography will be provided.

- To acquire knowledge and understanding of the main episodes of the history of Western design and architecture from antiquity to early 19th century, in their context, both in the practical-constructive and in the aesthetic-design aspects.
Thematic lessons on case studies and contexts particularly important from the historical-artistic point of view will develop knowledge and understanding of the relationships between design, architecture, social changes, taste and production that have occurred over time. The investigation will promote a historical-critical reading of these episodes, aimed at highlighting the complex system of material, formal, artistic, political, and economic demands.
- To apply the acquired knowledge and understanding to produce a written and graphic report illustrating a research subject, agreed with the teacher regarding architectural space in XVIth-century Italian Painting.

Basics of history and art history.

The teaching is organized into 48 hours of frontal didactic activities divided into: frontal lessons with image support, also with the involvement of students in order to stimulate knowledge and understanding, ability to draw conclusions, communication skills; presentation by the students in the classroom of the progress of the agreed in-depth topic; possible on site visits; possible seminars with external experts.
Attendance of the lessons is compulsory. In order to access the final exam, it will be necessary to reach a minimum attendance percentage of 70%.

Verification of learning will be carried out with a final individual oral exam. Students will have to present and discuss the material produced during teaching related to the agreed in-depth topic, as well as demonstrate knowledge of the topics covered during the lessons, and the ability to understand and draw conclusions on these topics, framing them in their historical context, through an interview divided into about three questions. Evaluation parameters are: ability to draw conclusions, to synthesise, to organise the exposition, to use the specialistic vocabulary.
