    Premio dedicato a padre Michele Piccirillo, dell’ordine dei frati minori, valente archeologo ed eminente biblista nato a Casanova di Carinola il 18 novembre del 1944, venuto a mancare il 26 ottobre del 2008 a Livorno. Quest’anno il conferimento del prestigioso Premio Internazionale per la Ricerca sui Beni Culturali “padre Michele Piccirillo O.F.M”, per l’edizione 2019, va al Prof. Santiago Huerta Fernández della Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid (ETSAM).

    Santiago Huerta è architetto e professore di analisi strutturale presso la Scuola di Architettura del Politecnico di Madrid. È direttore del Dipartimento di Editoria dell'Instituto Juan de Herrera; redattore della Collana Textos sobre teoría e historia de las construcciones (Testi sulla Teoria e la Storia delle Costruzioni); e Presidente della Sociedad Española de Historia de la Construcción (Società Spagnola di Storia delle Costruzioni). Ha curato la traduzione in spagnolo di alcune delle opere classiche sulla storia dell'edilizia di Viollet-le Duc e Choisy. Nel campo della teoria strutturale, si è specializzato nella teoria delle strutture in muratura; in questo campo ha tradotto e curato molti dei libri di Jacques Heyman. Si occupa anche della storia della costruzione delle strutture voltate. Lavora attivamente nel campo dell'analisi e del consolidamento di edifici storici e ha scritto circa 30 relazioni tecniche su diversi edifici a volta e ponti in muratura in Spagna, tra questi San Juan de los Reyes en Toledo, la cattedrale di Tudela e il ponte romano-medievale di Navea. Ha pubblicato un libro sulla storia della costruzione delle strutture in muratura: Arcos, bóvedas y cúpulas: Geometria y equilibrio en el cálculo tradicional de estructuras de fábrica (Instituto Juan de Herrera, Madrid 2004); tutt’oggi continua la sua missione di salvaguardia del patrimonio Architettonico Europeo, creando attorno a se una scuola di pensiero che annovera anche studiosi del Dipartimento di Architettura e Disegno Industriale dell’Università della Campania Luigi Vanvitelli.

     


    A special evening dedicated to the late Father Michele Piccirillo, of the Order of Friars Minor, a talented archaeologist and eminent biblical scholar born in Casanova di Carinola on 18 November 1944 and died on 26 October 2008 in Livorno. On this occasion, the awarding of the prestigious International Prize for Research on Cultural Heritage "Father Michele Piccirillo O.F.M.", for the 2019 edition, is given to Prof. Santiago Huerta Fernández of the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid (ETSAM).

    Santiago Huerta is Architect and Professor of Structural Analysis in the School of Architecture of the Polytechnic University of Madrid. He is director of the Publishing Department of the Instituto Juan de Herrera; editor of the Series Textos sobre teoría e historia de las construcciones (Texts on the Theory and History of Constructions); and President of the Sociedad Española de Historia de la Construcción (Spanish Society for Construction History). He has edited the Spanish translation of some of the classic works on Construction History by Viollet-le Duc and Choisy. In the field of structural theory, he specializes in the theory of masonry structures; within this field he has translated and edited many of the books of Jacques Heyman. He also writes on the history of the theory of vaulted structures. He works actively in the field of analysis and consolidation of historic buildings and has written some 30 technical reports on different vaulted buildings and masonry bridges, in Spain, amongst these San Juan de los Reyes en Toledo, the cathedral of Tudela and the roman-medieval bridge of Navea. He lectures regularly on this topic in several Spanish Masters on Restoration. He has published a book on the history of design of masonry architecture: Arcos, bóvedas y cúpulas: Geometría y equilibrio en el cálculo tradicional de estructuras de fábrica (Instituto Juan de Herrera, Madrid 2004); continues today its mission of safeguarding the European architectural heritage, through a “School of Thought” that also includes scholars from the Department of Architecture and Industrial Design of the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli.
