Challenges and Opportunities of Virtual Acoustic

Simulation and rendering of virtual acoustic environments involves a complex workflow with the components of source characterization, computer simulation of sound propagation, and 3D audio rendering. The components are briefly introduced and discussed in terms of challenges and uncertainties. The opportunities are applications in laboratory experiments focusing on human response in complex environments.
