Testi di riferimento | Testi di base: BROWN T., Change by Design, Harper Collins, New York, 2009;

Teaching language | Italian |
Contents | The course covers the following topics through various methods of training:
- the concept of creative industry in relation to thought and strategies of design;
- the evolution of the concept of creative industries to the concept of creative ecosystem;
- the tangible and intangible values of creative ecosystems;
- the floating factory: new design-oriented industrial organizations;
- evolution of the concept of innovation, strategies and methods for continuous innovation, the visions of design thinking. |
Textbook and course materials | Basic texts: BROWN T., Change by Design, Harper Collins, New York, 2009;

Course objectives | The students must acquire the concepts, terminology and the scientific literature concerning the notion of design thinking and interaction design, of creative design based economy, creative ecosystem and of design-oriented innovation. Through case studies, reference study, seminars and conferences with designers, companies and design-oriented centers of innovation they must understand and master the dynamics of creative development and consolidation of factories, the creative geographies (both tangible and intangible) of reference. In relation to this scenario, the fundamental objectives of the course are:
- Acquire the methods and processes of interaction design
- developing the concept of design-oriented industry in all strategic, cultural and productive aspects
- representing the contemporary scenarios in which the concept of creative industries takes form, with particular reference to design-oriented industries
- overcoming the concept of creative industry related only to "non-technological" development
- providing critical and technical-scientific knowledge on the organization of design-oriented economies
- developing the creative concept of ecosystem as a competitive and distinctiveness value of a territory
- tieing the concept of creative ecosystem to the strategies and methods of "design thinking" for continuous innovation; |
Prerequisites | The student must have notions of theories and methods of industrial design and of contemporary design scenery. |
Teaching methods | The teaching is based on the design thinking methodology and includes: |
Evaluation methods | The course consists of wo tests of learning;
- the first dedicated to verify the attainment of educational objectives related to the fundamentals of the course;
- the second relating to the acquisition of a repertoire of case studies and to the verification of design skills concerning the themes of design thinking and interaction design. For the first check (oral) the acquisition of the basic knowledge and the reference methodologies will be taken into consideration, for the second the ability to apply the acquired knowledge to the project and the critical and expository ability. The final passing of the exam will be obtained with a minimum grade of 18/30; the vote will come from the average of the obtained evaluations. |
Other information | Students will be provided with useful materials available online and slides relating to the lectures. |
Course Syllabus | The course intends to represent the opportunity for the competitive, productive and cultural development of creative design oriented industries in all its strategic dimension. The profound global changes, the fluidity of contemporary productive organizations that generate value, the dimension of the crisis and its structural characteristics indicate the need to build paths capable of integrating culture, territorial geographies, material culture, innovation, people and institutions in a creative ecosystem . The vision, generally accepted especially in American scientific circles, of the creative industries based on the concept of "soft innovation", or rather on the non-technological elements of development, has meant that these were not long considered as strategic elements of development. In reality, design-oriented production ecosystems demonstrate the need for a complex dimension from a technological point of view, which integrates cultural, scientific and productive strategies with innovation, with an upside-down perspective compared to traditional industrial innovation processes: technology becomes the instrument of a continuous adaptation to the needs of the evolution of the creative ecosystem, understood as a perfect balance of social, cultural and economic-productive factors. With this particular perspective of revision of the concept of creative economy in relation to the thought of design, the course will address the following topics: |
