Il corso si concentra sullo studio dell’ambiente costruito e del paesaggio dal XX secolo ad oggi, incrociando i diversi approcci della storia urbana, paesaggistica e ambientale. Alcune lezioni saranno dedicate all'analisi di alcuni concetti chiave dell'urbanistica e delle teorie urbane alla base dello sviluppo delle città contemporanee, tra cui: la Garden City, la “città funzionale”, il social housing, la “città della concentrazione spontanea”, la “città come immagine”, l’urban design, la “città diffusa”, l’urban landscape, la “città sostenibile”. Una parte del corso sarà dedicata all'approfondimento e alla discussione con gli allievi di alcuni casi-studio italiani e internazionali, analizzando i processi progettuali, le trasformazioni spontanee e i fenomeni di degrado e rigenerazione in corso.

Il corso intende fornire agli allievi le conoscenze storiche e gli strumenti critici necessari alla lettura e all’intervento sui territori contemporanei. A tal fine, i contenuti minimi” per il superamento delle verifiche di apprendimento coincidono con una conoscenza di base della storia della città, storia del paesaggio, storia del planning e storia ambientale.

Si richiede la conoscenza di base della Storia dell'architettura contemporanea.

Il corso si compone di lezioni frontali ed esercitazioni per un totale di 8 CFU pari a 64 ore di didattica. Agli studenti, divisi per gruppi, verra chiesto di leggere e relazionare un testo di critica e teoria della città contemporanea. Le loro lecture avverranno a partire dal mese di dicembre all'interno del corso.
La frequenza obbligatoria per poter accedere
all’esame è pari al 70% (salvo specifiche riduzioni assentite in CCdS). Le presenze verranno registrate in aula.

L'esame consiste in un colloquio orale in cui si verifica l'apprendimento delle nozioni impartite durante il corso approfondite mediante i testi di riferimento. Il voto finale sarà la media del voto del colloquio con il voto delle esercitazioni. I requisiti minimi per superare la prova orale sono la capacità di collocare cronologicamente un’opera, una città o un testo e di darne una lettura critica rispetto al contesto in cui si inseriscono.

Sono previsti materiali di supporto on line. Verranno fornite le slides utilizzate durante le lezioni. Sono previste attività di tutorato.

È prevista un’esercitazione da svolgersi in gruppo di studio. Agli studenti, compresi gli studenti Erasmus, verrà chiesto di leggere un testo da concordare con la docente e di relazionarlo ai colleghi mediante una serie di slides, a partire da dicembre con cadenza settimanale. A questa esercitazione di carattere seminariale verrà assegnato un voto che farà media con il colloquio esame finale.

The course is focuses on the study of the built environment and landscape from the 20th century to the present day, crossing the different approaches of urban, landscape and environmental history. Some lectures will be devoted to the analysis of some key concepts of urban planning and urban theories at the basis of the development of contemporary cities: the Garden city, the "functional city", the social housing, the "city of spontaneous concentration", the "city as image", the urban design, the "città diffusa", the urban landscape or the "sustainable city". A part of the course will be dedicated to an in-depth study and discussion with students of some Italian and international case-studies, analyzing design processes, spontaneous transformations and ongoing degradation and regeneration phenomena.

The course aims to provide students with the historical knowledge and critical tools necessary to read and intervene in contemporary territories.To this end, the minimum contents" for passing learning tests coincide with a basic knowledge of city history, landscape history, planning history and environmental history.

A basic knowledge of contemporary architectural history is required.

The course consists of lectures and tutorials for a total of 8 CFUs equal to 64 hours of didactics. Students, divided into groups, will be asked to read and report on a text in contemporary city criticism and theory. Their lectures will take place starting in December within the course.
Mandatory attendance to be eligible for
the exam is 70% (unless specific reductions are granted in CCdS). Attendance will be recorded in the classroom.

The examination consists of an oral interview in which the learning of the notions imparted during the course is verified by means of the reference texts. The final grade will be the average of the interview grade and the exercise grade. minimum requisites for passing the oral test are the ability to place a work, city, or text chronologically and to give a critical reading of it with respect to the context in which it fits.

The Online support materials are provided. Slides used during lectures will be provided. Tutoring activities are planned.

an exercise is planned to be carried out as a study group. Students, including Erasmus students, will be asked to read a text to be agreed upon with the lecturer and relate it to colleagues through a series of slides, starting in December on a weekly basis. This seminar-style exercise will be assigned a grade that will be averaged with the final exam interview.
