Contents | The Product Eco-Design Laboratory intends to transfer the necessary skills to the design of eco-sustainable products, starting from critical analysis of contemporary design scenarios, up to the definition of products that respond to specific briefs in connection with expert companies and designers. The practice of design projects for sustainability has undergone over time constant evolution and consolidation of contents: from the selection of resources with low environmental impact to the life cycle design of products, the design of eco-efficient systems, and the socio-ethical dimension of sustainability. |
Textbook and course materials | Vezzoli C., Design per la sostenibilità ambientale. progettare il ciclo di vita dei prodotti. Seconda edizione, Editore: Zanichelli Editore, Anno edizione: 2016 |
Course objectives | The course will cover notions relating to strategies and new development models sustainability of contemporary design through a review of case studies on the topic, to enrich the design practice from an eco-oriented perspective and socially responsible. The laboratory will be integrated by the suitability of Advanced Product Prototyping, which aims to transfer theoretical and practical skills within the systems of advanced prototyping to enable the creation of physical prototypes. |
Prerequisites | The minimum knowledge concerns the theoretical and practical methods for product systems development, processes and materials. |
Teaching methods | The didactic method used is organized in frontal lessons articulated in didactic modules: theoretical lessons, seminars, workshops with exercises and reviews of the projects realized for the work at the end of the course. |
Evaluation methods | The learning verify of the course contents takes place through at least two individual intermediate tests and a final test on the development of the project work, carried out by a group. |
Other information | The project work is carried out by a team while the intermediate tests are carried out individually. |
