Programma del corso | Il corso comprenderà lezioni teoriche sui seguenti temi: |

Contents | The course, which is one of the two modules in which the "Laboratory of Urban and environmental design and restoration" is articulated, will include lectures and laboratory activities and will be addressed, on the one hand, to analyze the main challenges that contemporary cities have to cope with (from demographic changes to environmental decay, from traditional risks to climate related risks); on the other hand, to explore, also through case studies, the likely solutions to be developed. Particular attention will be devoted to sustainable urban mobility and green urban infrastructures. |
Textbook and course materials | Books |
Course objectives | Teaching activities, through lectures and thematic seminars, provide students with: basic knowledge in the field of urban planning and specific knowledge on emerging issues in the planning debate, with particular reference to the issues of urban regeneration according to principles of sustainability and resilience. Laboratory activities, in close relationships with the contents of the lectures, will be addressed to carry out a project work allowing students to apply the theoretical knowledge gained to specific urban contexts, stimulating their ability to: 1) elaborate and interpret data for a better understanding of the sustainability and resilience features of urban and territorial systems; 2) identify existing criticalities and provide ideas and technical solutions for a sustainable and resilient urban regeneration. Furthermore, laboratory activities favor students’ abilities to work in teams and stimulate their communication skills, guiding them in the drafting of graphic and cartographic representations of their analysis and regenerative solutions as well as in identifying effective ways of presenting and communicating their work. |
Prerequisites | Basic elements of Urban Planning |
Teaching methods | Teaching activities will include lectures, seminars on emerging issues in the planning debate, also entrusted to professors of other universities or professionals with a consolidated experience in the field, and laboratory activities aimed at carrying out a specific project work, with periodic presentations and exhibitions in the classroom of the work progresses achieved by the different working teams. |
Evaluation methods | The final examination will be carried out through an individual oral interview. The interview will cover both the contents of the theoretical lessons and the works carried out by the students during the course. |
Other information | The teacher will provide students with the slides used during the lessons and additional supporting materials to facilitate individual study. |
