Contents | The course contents consist of an introduction to the culture of eco-sustainable design and include the following basic aspects: the interdisciplinary nature of the project for sustainability; the historical and methodological basis, the neo-organicist culture and the influence of the sciences of complexity; the general and technical aspects in the evolution of the project methodology; the significant case studies of the international panorama and the designers of special importance. |
Textbook and course materials | Starting from a basic bibliography, the course provides that, taking into account the prevailing scientific and professional interests of the student, the teacher can agree on some materials for in-depth study (articles, texts, websites, etc..). In this way the bibliography, with the possible sitography, becomes a dynamic and integrable system, so as to support the student's personal research path, follow the most recent developments in the culture of eco-sustainable projects, identify the most advanced case studies and designers. |
Course objectives | The course aims to introduce the student to the cultural and scientific themes of the eco-sustainable project, providing a basic preparation on the main methodological and technical aspects. The student will be able to learn the basic principles of sustainability and be able to understand a project in its general characteristics related to the relationship with the resources of the environment, the spatial conformation, the climatic context, the materials used, the energy choices. The skills acquired constitute a general basis that can guide the student in the project. |
Prerequisites | The student should preferably already have the following skills: |
Teaching methods | The course is based on frontal lessons and exercises that actively involve the student. During the course of the training process, the student is encouraged to identify and deepen the aspects that he considers closest to his specific interest. Lessons are organized according to three main modules: |
Evaluation methods | The course includes verifications and intermediate exercises, final examination. The student will take tests in itinere, which will follow one another throughout the semester of the course. They will develop their work through the elaboration and presentation of a personalized research. |
Other information | The teacher will take care in agreeing with each student the topics to be developed on the basis of prevailing fields of interest, at the chosen address, but also any opportunities and events present during the semester of teaching (exhibitions, competitions, workshops, seminars, etc.). |
Course Syllabus | The course includes frontal lessons able to give a general and synthetic picture of the foundations of the eco-sustainable project with reference to the different design scales. The methods of the eco-sustainable project refer to the organism and the building components, always studied in relation to the environmental context. At the same time, the student will be guided in the analysis of case studies, chosen from recent architectural projects, in order to experiment with a reading of the building in relation to the criteria of eco-efficiency learned. |
