The Department of Architecture and Industrial Design of the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli develops, promotes and sustains a large variety of research activities in a number of scientific-disciplinary sectors by means of a multidisciplinary approach in cooperation with other Italian and foreign universities, research centres and companies.
There are currently 20 Research Groups operating in the Department over a wide range of research topics, mainly focusing on advanced materials, resilience of structures, BIM technology and material innovation, sustainable and resilient cities, shape of architecture in settlements, landscape and interior space, theories and practices of architecture in the contemporary world, history and design of gems and jewels, contemporary cultural landscapes, acoustics, vibration and multisensory interactions, history and preservation for promoting the environmental and architectonical heritage, architectures and infrastructures for digitization, sustainable industrial design, energy efficiency and environment, carbon neutral buildings, knowledge, valorisation and digital communication of cultural heritage.
In addition, there are 6 Laboratories, all with advanced equipment, where teaching activities, experimental studies, scientific research as well as activities on behalf of third parties are carried out by the Research Groups.
